This original artwork achieved a remarkable sale price of $10,500, having been generously donated and auctioned at the inaugural black-tie charity gala on 19 March 2022. Every dollar raised was contributed to Stronger Together for Spinal https://strongertogetherforspinal.org/ a charity foundation supporting people living with spinal injuries.
This piece holds deep personal significance. In 2021, one of my best friends, Kath Swain, experienced a tragic accident that resulted in a life-altering spinal injury. Watching her navigate and accept her diagnosis as a quadriplegic has been both heartbreaking and profoundly inspiring.
Unicorns symbolise magic, resilience, and strength — qualities that so beautifully reflect Kath. Her determination and spirit continue to shine, and her recovery journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. In true selfless fashion, Kath went on to establish Stronger Together for Spinal, a foundation dedicated to supporting others in the NSW Hunter region facing similar spinal challenges.
